LORMAN, Miss. -- Jarvis Turner returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown, Devon Francois added a 28 yard interception return for a score, and Alcorn State had no trouble beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 56-6 on Saturday.
John Gibbs Jr. added two touchdown passes, and Arron Baker had two rushing touchdowns for the Braves (9-2, 7-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who had already captured the SWAC Eastern Division title with a victory over Alabama A&M last week.
Alcorn State opened the game on a 21-0 scoring streak, before the Golden Lions (3-7, 2-6) finally got on the board for the first and only time late in the second quarter when quarterback Benjamin Anderson found Willie Young from 11 yards out.
