Onakoya, Achziger lead Marist past Davidson 38-7
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Wale Onakoya ran for two touchdowns and Ed Achziger threw for two more to lead Marist over Davidson 38-7 on Saturday.
Onakoya ran for a 15- and 7-yard score in the first quarter. Achziger threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Armani Martin and the Red Foxes had an early 20-0 lead. It was Martin's 19th career TD reception, adding to the fifth year senior's school record set Nov. 8 at Stetson.
Atiq Lucas ran for an 8-yard touchdown and Achziger connected with Joe Tralli on a 16-yard touchdown strike to give Marist a 35-0 halftime lead.
Marist (4-7, 4-4 Pioneer) held Davidson (1-10, 0-7) to 144 total yards. The Wildcats did not get into the red zone until Hub Cirame ran for an 11-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to avoid the shoutout.
