Shafnisky leads Lehigh over Georgetown 27-19
WASHINGTON -- Nick Shafnisky threw for a career-best 345 yards and two touchdowns and Lehigh defeated Georgetown 27-19 on Saturday for the Mountain Hawks' 15th consecutive victory over Georgetown.
Lehigh led the entire game after Ryan Pandy kicked the first of his two field goals and Shafnisky threw 16 yards to Troy Pelletier for a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
Pelletier had seven receptions, including a 69-yarder, to finish with a career-high 187 yards. The freshman also leads the Mountain Hawks with five touchdown catches this season. Shafnisky had his second career 300-plus-yard passing game.
Rich Sodeke rushed for a 110 yards and scored twice for Lehigh (2-6, 1-2 Pioneer), on an 8-yard pass from Shafnisky and a 6-yard run.
Jo'el Kimpela and Kyle Nolan ran for touchdowns for the Hoyas (2-7, 0-4). Rob Sgarlata is still looking for his first Pioneer Football League victory in his first year as head coach.
