Youngstown State overwhelms St. Francis (PA) 48-3
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Martin Ruiz ran for 103 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown reception to lead Youngstown St. over St. Francis (Pa.) 48-3 on Saturday.
The Penguins had 302 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Jody Webb ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns, Shane Kuhn added two scores and Ricky Davis ran for one.
Youngstown St. (2-1) quarterback Hunter Wells was 10 for 16 for 148 yards with a touchdown.
The Penguins built a 17-0 first quarter lead when Kuhn plunged 1 yard to score. In the second, Webb had a 20-yard run, Ruiz caught an 11-yard touchdown pass and Kuhn scored again from 6 yards to make it 38-0 before halftime.
Youngstown St. held the Red Flash (1-2) to 87 yards offense.
St. Francis' Zach Drayer completed 1 pass in 12 attempts for 10 yards. Marcus Bagley had 66 yards on 24 carries.
