Olsen, ground game take over as Southern Utah tops Brevard
CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Ammon Olsen threw three touchdown passes, Malik Brown ran for two more and Southern Utah jumped out front and never looked back in a 55-7 win over Brevard College on Saturday night.
Olsen finished 16-of-22 for 195 yards, hitting Justin Brown for a 26-yard score, Ty Rutledge for 29 yards and Naia Ursua for 14 -- all before halftime. Brown had 91 yards rushing on 17 attempts, Levi Te'o ran for 90 yards and a touchdown and Jarom Healey added 76 yards and a score as Southern Utah (2-2) totaled 365 yards on the ground.
Brevard College (0-4) relied heavy on the ground game as well, totaling 61 rushes in contrast to only four passing attempts. Anthony Washington put the Tornados on the board with an 8-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, capping off a 12-play drive. Washington had 59 yards on 12 carries and Tyler Gregory added 40 yards.
