Micah Wright leads Maine past Rhode Island 27-17
ORONO, Maine -- Micah Wright grabbed seven passes for 139 yards and a touchdown to give Maine its first win of the season, a 27-17 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday.
Maine (1-2, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) rolled up 472 total yards while holding Rhode Island (0-4, 0-2) to a minus eight yards rushing and 232 total yards.
Ricard Patrick and Michael Kozlako led the Maine defense with nine and seven tackles respectively and a sack apiece.
Nigel Beckford rushed 17 times for 91 yards for the Black Bears.
Wright hauled in a 51-yard scoring strike with 1:09 left in the first quarter to give Maine a 7-3 lead. Beckford added a 21-yard rushing touchdown and Sean Decloux kicked a 43-yard field goal for a 17-3 advantage at the break.
Rhode Island's Paul Mroz threw for 234 yards but had two interceptions, both by Sherro Baltimo.
