Elon's defense holds in 17-13 win over Towson
ELON, N.C. -- Connor Christiansen passed for 133 yards and a touchdown, and Elon's defense did just enough to hang on to a 17-13 win over Towson on Saturday.
Towson (2-2, 0-1 Colonial Athletic Association) drove 60 yards to get in the red zone with time waning, but Connor Frazier fumbled the center exchange with 11 seconds left and the Tigers were unable to get off another play. Frazier set the school record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 132 and threw for 151 yards on 19-of-34 passing.
John Silas had 16 tackles for Elon (2-2, 1-0), which was playing in its first-ever CAA game. Tereak McCray had three receptions for 65 yards, including a 35-yard score, and Brandon Gentry rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Towson outgained Elon 399-205 and scored touchdowns on two of its first three possessions.
