Crossan, New Hampshire roll over Elon 37-14
DURHAM, N.H. -- Dalton Crossan ran for four touchdowns and New Hampshire made its first five interceptions of the season in a 37-14 win over Elon on Saturday.
Crossan rushed for 140 yards on 22 carries. He ran 26 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter then added scoring runs of 1, 8 and 2 yards as the Wildcats built a 27-0 halftime lead. His four touchdowns were one short of the school record.
New Hampshire's Adam Riese was 22-of-32 passing for 163 yards with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Powell and an interception.
Five different Wildcats had picks for FCS-ranked New Hampshire (3-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic), two short of the team record.
Elon (2-3, 1-1) got a 7-yard scoring pass from Daniel Thompson to Tereak McCray in the final minute before halftime and then closed the gap to 34-14 on B.J. Bennett's 2-yard run in the third quarter.
