Neal, Wright help UT Martin beat Tennessee State 28-14
MARTIN, Tenn. -- Jarod Neal threw a pair of touchdown passes to Rod Wright to help UT Martin beat Tennessee State 28-14 Saturday.
Neal completed 16 of 27 for 195 yards and Wright had five receptions for 65 yards. Trent Garland rushed for 83 yards and a score on 20 carries for UT Martin (2-2, 2-1 Ohio Valley).
Tennessee State (3-2, 0-2) had 130 total yards, six first downs and a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter but managed just 160 yards and seven first downs the rest of the way as UT Martin scored 28 unanswered points.
A 3-yard scoring run by Ladevin Fair and Wright's first touchdown, which was set up by a 57-yard catch and run by William Tanner, tied it going into the half.
UT Martin opened the third quarter with a 14-play, 66-yard drive that was capped by Garland's 2-yard touchdown and led the rest of the way.
