Central Connecticut Blue Devils @ Duquesne Dukes
Duquesne beats CCSU 27-10
PITTSBURGH -- Klartel Claridy rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, Rafiq Douglas ran for another score and Duquesne cashed in on turnovers to beat Central Connecticut State University 27-10 on Saturday in a Northeast Conference opener.
The Dukes (3-2, 1-0) had 524 total yards to 314 for the Blue Devils (1-4, 0-1) with Dillon Buechel throwing for 323 yards and Claridy leading a rushing attack that netted 201 yards.
Claridy scored on a 2-yard run, then, after the Dukes recovered a CCSU fumble on the ensuing kickoff, scored again on a 1-yard run and Duquesne led 14-10 at halftime. Douglas scored on a 4-yard run in the third.
CCSU had second and goal at the Duquesne 3 in the third quarter, but Tavion Pauldo fumbled and Duquesne's Austin Crimmins kicked a 30-yard field goal for a 24-10 lead.
Jacob Dolegala connected with Courtney Rush on a 58-yard pass for the Blue Devils' only TD.
