CCSU defense hobbles Robert Morris in 34-0 shutout
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Najae Brown returned his second interception of the game for a touchdown in an explosive fourth quarter as CCSU blanked Robert Morris 34-0 on Saturday, the Blue Devils' first shutout in seven years.
Central Connecticut (4-5, 3-1 Northeast) swarmed Robert Morris all game, forcing six turnovers that included picking off Mathew Barr five times, and blocked a punt for a touchdown. All the Blue Devils points came after halftime -- including three touchdowns in less than three minutes early in the fourth quarter.
CCSU's third win in the last four games keeps it in the thick of the Northeast Conference race with Duquesne and Bryant. All three teams started Saturday 2-1 in conference.
The Blue Devils broke the scoreless deadlock early in the second half when Dwight Lomax blocked Connor Shennan's punt from the 4-yard line, Keir Minor scooped it at the 2 and walked into the end zone.
Mike Peterson and Cameron Nash added back-to-back rushing TDs.
