Mazza, Stetson beat NAIA Webber 42-13
DELAND, Fla. -- Cole Mazza ran for 99 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night, and Stetson opened its season with a 42-13 victory over NAIA Webber.
The 42 points set a program record for Stetson's modern era. The Hatters have gone 8-16 since reviving their football program in 2013.
Mazza scored all of his touchdowns in the first half, helping Stetson build a 21-6 lead at the break. Ryan Tentler threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Strahl in the third, and A.J. Washington scored on a 16-yard run early in the fourth.
PJ Franklin added an 82-yard TD run, giving Stetson a 42-6 lead with 8:33 left in the game. Franklin finished with 89 yards on three carries.
Billy Pavlock ran and threw to account for each of Webber's touchdowns. The Warriors (1-1) opened their season last Saturday with 48-21 win over Arizona Christian.
