Dayton stays undefeated, breaks away from Valparaiso 44-14
VALPARISO, Ind. -- Jack Adams scored two short touchdown runs and William Will added a pair of field goals as undefeated Dayton broke out of an early tie to defeat Valparaiso 44-14 on Saturday.
Dayton (6-0, 3-0 Pioneer) was one of eight FCS teams still unbeaten coming into the game, rallying from behind in four of its six wins. Saturday, the Flyers broke out of a 14-14 tie with six unanswered scoring drives -- field goals of 36 and 25 yards from Will, a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs by Adams and a Ryan Schwenke 35-yard fumble return.
Dayton capitalized on four turnovers -- two fumbles and two interceptions -- after halftime.
Jean Rene caught TD passes of 32 and 20 yards from Ryan Clarke as Valparaiso (1-5, 1-3) rallied into a 14-14 tie early in the second quarter.
Four Flyers combined to rush for 182 yards, nearly 100 more than Valparaiso.
