Penn beats Cornell 42-20 to win Ivy League title

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Alek Torgerson passed for one score and ran for two more, Tre Solomon ran for two scores and Penn converted three interceptions into TDs to beat the Big Red 42-20 on Saturday and win its 18th Ivy League title.

Justin Watson caught 11 passes for 106 yards to become Penn's single-season receiving yards leader, surpassing Rob Mianese's 1,112 yards in 2002. He has 87 receptions on the season, surpassing Milanese's 85 in 2016.

Conor O'Brien picked off two passes by Cornell's Dalton Banks and Mason Williams intercepted another for Penn (7-3, 6-1), which held Cornell to 39 yards rushing.

Banks threw for 322 yards and two TDs for Cornell (4-6, 2-5).

Torgerson was 24 of 31 for 284 yards passing and an interception, with a 22-yard scoring strike to Christian Pearson. Torgerson scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter and capped Penn's scoring with a 1-yard plunge. Solomon gained 173 yards on 32 carries, with two 1-yard runs.

Penn has won back-to-back Ivy League titles and seven wins in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2009-10.
