Shafnisky throws for 461 yards, 4 TDs; Lehigh tops Princeton
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Nick Shafnisky was 29 of 36 for 461 yards and four touchdowns, Gatlin Casey had two long touchdown catches, and Lehigh beat Princeton 42-28 on Saturday.
Shafnisky has 878 total yards and 10 touchdowns in his last two games.
Tyler Cavenas' first career interception set up Shafnisky's 42-yard TD toss to Casey for a 14-7 lead. Princeton punted after five plays on its next possession and Lehigh went on a 13-play, 98-yard TD drive, capped by Micco Brisker's 3-yard run to make it 21-7.
Colton Caslow returned another interception 13 yards in the third and Lehigh went up 28-14 four plays later after Shafnisky connected with Troy Pelletier from 14 yards out. Casey added a 56-yard touchdown late in the third and Dominick Bragalone had a short touchdown run as Lehigh scored a TD on three straight possessions.
Pelletier caught nine passes for 190 yards and Casey added six grabs for 148 yards for Lehigh (2-2).
Charles Volker carried it 13 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns for Princeton (1-1).
