Wofford Terriers @ Samford Bulldogs
Gooden picks 2-point try, Samford holds off Wofford 28-26
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Devlin Hodges threw four touchdown passes and Samford withstood a Wofford comeback bid to escape with a 28-26 win on Saturday.
Wofford's Lorenzo Long scored his second rushing touchdown of the day with 3:24 left to make it a two-point game, but the conversion attempt was intercepted by Brandon Goodson to preserve the lead.
Hodges found Emmanuel Obajimi on a 13-yard scoring strike with 5:05 to go to cap a nine-play, 74-yard drive to give Samford (3-1, 1-1 Southern Conference) its cushion. Hodges finished 28 of 32 for 315 yards.
The Bulldogs built a 21-10 lead midway through the second quarter on Hodges' second touchdown pass of the day to Karel Hamilton -- covering 51 yards.
Wofford (3-2, 1-1) then marched on a 15-play, 59-yard drive on the next possession, culminating with Long's 1-yard touchdown plunge, and trailed 21-17 at intermission. The Terriers added a 34-yard field goal by David Marvin in the third quarter to pull to 21-20.
