Hodges, Hamilton connect for 3 TDs, Samford beats Furman
GREENILLE, S.C. -- Devlin Hodges and Karel Hamilton hooked up for three touchdowns as Hodges threw for a career-high 411 yards with Hamilton hauling in seven passes for 168 yards to lead Samford to a 38-21 victory over winless Furman on Saturday.
Hodges was 27 for 38 passing. Hamilton, who is rapidly closing in on the school record for yards receiving in a career, needs just 259 yards to tie Efrem Hill's record of 3,054 yards.
Kelvin McKnight pulled in three passes for 75 yards and Justin Curry rushed for 95 yards for Samford (4-1, 2-1 Southern Conference).
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early advantage and led 24-14 at the break. Hodges hit Hamilton on a 63-yard strike to pull ahead 31-14 late in the third quarter.
Reese Hannon threw for 301 yards and two scores to become Furman's (0-6, 0-3) career passing leader with 6,384 yards.
