NC Central rolls to seventh straight win
DOVER, Del. -- Malcolm Bell threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns to help lead North Carolina Central to a 38-19 win over Delaware State on Saturday.
The win is the Eagles' (7-2, 6-0 MEAC) seventh straight and sets up a potential final week showdown with rival North Carolina A&T for the conference crown. The Aggies also are 6-0 in MEAC play.
Ramone Simpson carried 14 times for 112 yards and a score and LaVontis Smith added two touchdowns receiving for the Eagles.
A Gil Rivera 20-yard TD pass to Aris Scott for Delaware State (0-9, 0-6) cut an early nine-point deficit to two (9-7) early in the second quarter. But North Carolina Central quickly rallied with 22 unanswered points for a 31-7 halftime lead, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Rivera threw for 180 yards and a touchdown before giving way to Daniel Epperson, who added 136 yards and one score.
