Edmonds rolls as Fordham holds off Georgetown in 17-14 win
NEW YORK -- Chase Edmonds had 179 yards on 37 carries, and Makay Redd's 24-yard field goal with three minutes to play lifted Fordham past Georgetown 17-14 on Saturday.
Edmonds' 37 carries was three shy of the school record shared by three players for most in a game.
Caleb Ham intercepted the Hoyas' Brock Johnson and returned the ball 22 yards to Georgetown's 28-yard line to set up Redd's field goal. Later, on Georgetown's final drive, Lawrence Menyah intercepted Johnson to preserve the win.
Fordham (5-2, 2-0 Patriot League) took a quick 14-0 lead when Luke Medlock threw touchdown passes of 3 and 37 yards both to Robbie Cantelli.
On the ensuing drive, Clay Norris connected with Brandon Williams on a 59-yard pass to put Georgetown (3-4, 0-2) on the board. The Hoyas tied it at 14 early in the second on Isaac Ellsworth's 1-yard run.
Fordham's defense held Georgetown to -2 rushing yards and intercepted Norris and Johnson a combined five times.
