D-II Panhandle St. rallies to beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 20-16
PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Shane Truelove threw three touchdown passes, two in the fourth quarter, and Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 20-16 on Saturday night.
The Aggies were down 16-7 when Truelove tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Eddie Thomas. After forcing the Golden Lions to punt after three plays on its next possession, Truelove threw a 55-yard scoring strike to Brandon Trotter with 2:49 remaining to a cap a seven-play, 91-yard drive.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff drove to the Aggies 38, but the drive ended when Deion Jeffery broke up a Brandon Duncan pass attempt to John Hawkins with 14 seconds left.
D'Darrin Primes sacked Duncan and forced a fumble in the first quarter, and the Aggies later capitalized on the turnover with Truelove's 2-yard touchdown pass to Steven White Jr. to give Panhandle St. a 7-3 lead.
Dante McDonald and Terry Montgomery had scoring runs in the third quarter to give Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 16-7 lead.
