NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook left the Sooners' 38-20 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday and did not return.
Westbrook, a contender for the Heisman Trophy and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver, left after taking a vicious hit over the middle of the field from Cowboys safety Jordan Sterns. Westbrook stayed down on the field for several seconds before being helped to the sideline. Sterns was not flagged for targeting.
Before leaving, Westbrook had 111 yards receiving, including a 69-yard touchdown grab, his 17th touchdown of the season.
After the game, Sooners' coach Bob Stoops said Westbrook will go through the concussion protocol.
