South Carolina has lost two wide receivers to season-ending lower-body injuries, including Jayden Sellers, the younger brother of Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers.
Jayden Sellers and Oklahoma transfer Jayden Gibson suffered the injuries last week in practice, the team said Sunday.
Sellers impressed as a true freshman in 2025, recording 337 receiving yards and a touchdown on 22 catches in seven games.
Gibson missed the past two seasons at Oklahoma with injuries after recording 375 receiving yards and five touchdowns on only 14 receptions in 2023. He was an SC Next 300 recruit in 2022.
"I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men," South Carolina coach Shane Beamer said in a statement. "I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. I have full confidence they will both overcome the adversity they're facing, and we will help them in whatever way we can throughout the rehab process moving forward."
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Jayden Sellers, who started two games in 2025, was expected to have a significant role as a slot receiver this fall. South Carolina returns leading receiver Nyck Harbor, along with Mazeo Bennett Jr., while adding Purdue transfer Nitro Tuggle, who had 500 receiving yards on 34 catches last fall.
The Gamecocks open the season Sept. 5 when they host Kent State.
