Well, that brings us to the end of the post-match presentation ceremony. Stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and ODI skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz collect the trophy and head towards the stage, where the pyrotechnics are lighting up the podium as the home team celebrates a historic series win. After that, Towhid Hridoy steps into his brand-new car and takes a lap inside the ground, waving to the fans in the stands.

Najmul Hossain Shanto: "[Hard luck but you must be pleased] Very happy. I think the way we played the last three matches, I'm really proud of the boys. Especially today, the way we came back strongly in the last few overs. That's what we need - that character in the field where everyone believes we can come back anytime. So I'm really happy with the way we played. [Target score] I think 275 was a brilliant score. The way Hridoy and Mosaddek batted, I was really happy to see. But if you look at our spin in the middle overs, we didn't get enough wickets, so that cost us the match today. It can happen in cricket, but the way Shoriful bowled with the new ball, in the middle overs, and during the last few overs was nice to see. He showed a lot of character after not playing the last two matches and coming back for this one. It's not easy, but I'm really happy with how he bowled and I hope he will continue this form. [Shoriful's inclusion] I think that's what we need as a bowling unit. If you look at Taskin, Mustafiz, and some of the bowlers on the bench, they have worked really hard the last few years. There is a very healthy competition in the dressing room, which is why we got the result. But again, I believe we still need to improve in a lot of areas."

Most Valuable Player of the Series, Towhid Hridoy: "I'm so happy [Winning the brand new car]. Whenever I bat, I just want to contribute to my team and try to execute my plan. [Pitch] To be very honest, the wicket was very good; a high-scoring wicket. We hope we will face this kind of wicket again. If we want to perform at a higher level, we should play on this kind of wicket. We are looking forward to playing on these surfaces, and hopefully, we are improving day by day."

Player of the Series, Mosaddek Hossain: "Alhamdulillah for everything. It's excellent. I was waiting for the opportunity, and I felt this is a privilege for me. After such a long time, I came back here performing for the team. It's been a privilege. [15-20 runs short?] I felt we were 15-20 runs short, and at the end of the day, they batted really well too."

Player of the Match, Copper Connolly: "[How are you feeling?] It's quite nice to get over the line there. I was a little bit nervous, but I was backing Zamps and Riley to get us over the line. It's nice to have a win. [Enjoy your role at the top?] It's definitely satisfying. Obviously, there are two world-class players who bat at the top in Heady and Mitch. Unfortunately, they weren't available, but it was nice to get the opportunity at the top and make the most of it. I just like to keep my options open. [Was the plan to go all-out attack?] No, not necessarily. I think it's just the way myself and Josh [Inglis] play. We like to be aggressive, take the game on, and just play good cricket shots. The wicket allowed that. There were obviously some nice conditions for the bowlers early, but the way Ingo and I tried to counter-punch and score freely worked. We got a couple of loose balls and made sure to put them under pressure when the opportunity came. [When did you believe the chase was on?] From the start. Obviously, you have that confidence in this team to chase anything down and defend anything, so right from the beginning, it always felt like we were going to get near it."

Josh Inglis: "[Pleased with the performance?] Yeah, very pleased. It was quite nervy sitting in the changing rooms for the last 20 minutes or so, but it was nice to get over the line. [Did you have the belief to chase down 275?] We definitely did. It was a very good surface and felt really nice in the powerplay. Then we all saw one of the great knocks going around. I think it was really special from Coop. What he did tonight kept us in the game throughout. I thought he was really calm with the way he managed those middle overs and the partnerships. In the end, Zamps and Riley got us over the line. [What was going through your mind in the last few overs?] A bit of the same. I was like, please let us win one. It's been a tough series for us. Bangladesh have played outstandingly well here, so it was nice to get a win tonight. [Connolly] We saw how much he was cramping throughout his innings, and the way he managed that was really good. He scored quickly, which bought us some time at the back end when we were losing wickets. It was an outstanding knock, but I think we also had more partnerships through the middle order today. We had some 60-plus run partnerships, which put us in a better position to chase the total. [Solid option at the top of the order?] Absolutely. He's a great ball striker and very versatile. He can bat from one to seven, and we've seen him do that, but the way he played today shows he looks very good at the top."

7:46 pm What a match. A nail-biter, a humdinger - words can't express the thrilling finish we just witnessed here in Mirpur! Cooper Connolly, take a bow, young man. Shoriful Islam, take a bow as well. And to the Mirpur crowd, you guys take a bow too for screaming your lungs out for the last few hours. Australia looked like the favourites for most of the run chase until that Shoriful over appeared out of nowhere. There were some brain-fade decisions from the Aussie lower-order batters too, like keeping Connolly off strike for 18 deliveries after he had just smashed three sixes in a row. It was a strong start by Australia with the bat, as skipper Inglis struck three boundaries in a row against Taskin in the third over. Connolly also started aggressively, hitting back to back boundaries off Mustafizur. Shoriful was then brought into the attack and struck straightaway, removing Inglis, who chipped a regulation catch to square leg. Shoriful struck again in the same over, clean-bowled Renshaw to pick up two wickets in his opening over. Those two quick blows shook the Australian top order, but Connolly stood tall from his end and kept striking brilliant strokes. He brought up his second ODI fifty off 51 balls, putting up a partnership with Labuschagne that put Bangladesh under pressure. However, the 64-run partnership was dismissed by Shoriful, thanks to Nurul taking a one-handed blinder behind the stumps. Connolly then brought up his maiden ODI century off 87 balls, earning a standing ovation from the dugout and a huge round of applause from the crowd. He was later dropped by Tanvir on 103 - a tough caught and bowled chance. The home team's fielding was subpar today, especially the ground fielding, leaking too many boundaries and easy singles. But Connolly shifted the game back in Australia's favor in a flash, striking three massive sixes in a row off Taskin. Peake played a brilliant supporting innings before getting out for 27. There was plenty of drama at the death; with 9 runs needed off 30 balls, Shoriful entered the scene again to take his wicket tally to six, spicing up the death overs, taking back to back wickets of Peake and Bartlett to secure his maiden ODI five-wicket haul. A catch was even dropped in the slips off Zampa by Tanzid, or it could have been his seventh. Connolly was stuck at the non-striker's end, witnessing all the drama from the best seat in the stadium. And then later on, he was forced to drag on by Mustafizur on 149 runs in the penultimate over. In the end, after so many shifts in momentum, dropped catches, and endless ifs and buts, Australia managed to get over the line in the final over to secure a consolation win, finishing the ODI series 2-1.

Ratul: "Shoriful brought back life in the match, beautiful spell, just as much Taskin did with the two bowleds in the previous one, else the DLS target would been much higher, but kudos to Cooper Connolly for his maturity, the lad chose not to take that single that would have taken him to 150, saving the tail, instead to wait for the right ball to take Aus to win. Amazing cricket!"

Fahim: "Despite the result. I'm not convinced by Bangladesh's performance. Yes, the Australian batsmen this series struggled with the pace attack. But, my instincts are telling me this attack will be dismantled by the batting lineup of England, India, and South Africa."

Mustafa Moudi : "Staying almost 3 overs away from strike took away Conolly's chnace to reach a Daddy hundred during his Maiden Century. Nevertheless, Today I have seen a Warner in him, who was a T20 Specialist but eventually excelled in ODIs and Tests Cricket too !!"
