6.07pm So Namibia's first ODI against a full-member team since 2003 ends in defeat, but they will have two more shots at South Africa in this series. Do tune in for those games. But that's all from us today. On behalf of Ekanth, Chetan, Ranjith and Thilak, it's Abhimanyu signing off.

6pm Time for the presentation ceremony.

Bjorn Fortuin: "Nice to get a good start in an ODI series. Nice to see guys stepping up. Jordan played an unbelievable knock and Subrayen picking up wickets. You can never take performing well for your team for granted. Nice to see guys performing big like Jordan did today. It gives good confidence to a young team."

Gerhard Erasmus: "I don't feel like we were ever in the game. I don't think in the first quarter of the game we put ourselves in any position to try and go for the win. So it's disappointing. [On the decision at the toss] Nah, I'd have bowled again. That's been the go-to here. I think both those games are important for us and we want to be looking at them alone but we know there's a massive picture for us in the World Cricket League and we need to get guys in good form and confidence."

Player of the match is, unsurprisingly, Jordan Hermann: "It was definitely my day and I am glad to contribute to a winning cause. [On a record score] It's very cool to think about, and it's great to have a result. That's the coolest thing."

5.50pm Jordan Hermann opened on debut and raced away to 150, with a large chunk of luck, and that pushed South Africa to 348, and the scorecard pressure was too much for Namibia, who never quite got going in the chase. They had a fifty-plus opening stand, but it came at a sluggish rate, and Namibia were always going to struggle to catch up to the required rate. When a couple of rain delays spiked their asking rate to near-impossible levels, the rest of the game was just a formality as South Africa take a 1-0 lead in this three-match series. Trumpelmann and Smit impressed with the ball, and the two were also the two most aggressive batters in what were the positives for Namibia. For South Africa, Subrayen picked up four after Maphaka got the first two breakthroughs. Duan Jansen also got a wicket on debut. Comprehensive display, really, from South Africa, in a big, big win over their World Cup co-hosts.
