SCG, Lord's, and...? Give today's 'Matchup' a go. Six letters, only one correct answer - here's today's 'Word Play'. Who starred in the previous ODI meeting between Australia and Zimbabwe in 2022? What's your KYC?
Amsterdam captain Edwards: We've figured out our style of play. We've been pretty consistent the last few games. We bowl a fair bit of spin, we like to use that as an attacking option that's our style. And we've got a powerful batting line-up. We've seen throughout the back half in Malahide, the pitches are slower and spungy. But you can still make runs if you bat long as you saw today. If we win our next game, we're pretty much through. So nothing much has to change for us
Curtis Campher is player of the match: I think it's my processes. The shots came off today and batting with de Leede helped. The group has been really good about rubbing off on each other. He bats differently to me, scores in different areas and so if the bowlers get slightly wrong, we tick them off. As a bowler, with a short side boundary, its important to be unpredictable and back your processes and your skills. If you bent your back and hit the pitch hard, you got some help. If you also took pace off, there was purchase.
Dublin captain Ashwin: There's been a constant upward curve before today. We weren't good today. We weren't good with the new ball. We didn't have the energy. I keep urging the boys. I keep urging them to keep high standards. We are at the bottom. The only way is up. It can be hard when you're having a tournament like this. I have empathy for every one of them. Some of them are playing their first franchise tournament. The only way we are going to climb is if each one of these individuals get better and we are trying to set up an environment where they can get better. Results haven't gone our way. We haven't been good in some of these games. It's important to understand the standards that we set is what will define them. We've been winning tosses but we haven't been winning games
Amsterdam keep themselves in the hunt for the trophy with their fifth win in nine matches. Curtis Campher should be a shoo-in for the Player of the Match after his 66 off 31 and 3 for 33.
