Imran Tahir: "[What pleased you the most tonight?] I think at the start, we were a little bit low on energy - to be honest with you, it was very humid when we came out. But then we got together as a group and decided how we wanted to go about it. We wanted to play the same brand of cricket we've been playing, and I think we executed that really nicely. You want to push forward with what's been working rather than just sitting back and hoping. I thought we controlled the game extremely well for the first 16 to 18 overs. [Batting unit] Like I said from the start, most of the guys have been with this franchise for the last couple of years. Every time we come here, a couple of players might struggle with the conditions, so it was fantastic to see such a professional approach as they went about their business. That comes with experience. Having Dindyal out there, he's a very talented player, he came in, contributed alongside Gurbaz, and never put Gurbaz under pressure. Normally Gurbaz feels he has to force the issue, so it was really nice to see how calculated they were.

[Dindyal] Look, we firmly believe he plays spin and fast bowling really well, especially in the powerplay. We just wanted to give him the opportunity to see what he could do during those overs and build his innings. He's a remarkable talent, and I have no doubt he's going to do really well in the future. [Playing Gurbaz and resting Phillips] There wasn't any complicated thinking behind it. Gurbaz was with us for the GSL, and while Glenn has also been in really good form, scoring a couple of very crucial 30s for us, we just wanted to give Gurbaz an opportunity because his record here at Providence is exceptionally good. That was the only reason. Glenn Phillips is still a class player, and in an ideal world, having them both together makes a fantastic combination. [Message to the crowd] I also want to thank the crowd and every single Guyanese fan - their support has been unbelievable. Thank you so much, guys, we love you!"

Rovman Powell: "[Were you satisfied with that total?] Yeah, to be honest, I think at the halfway stage I was pretty pleased, especially after losing those wickets in the middle overs. Credit to Hassan - he played a tremendous innings for us. I think it was just a case of fine margins. [Failing to pick up wickets] In hindsight, maybe we could have shifted things around a little bit. But credit has to be given to Gurbaz and the youngster - I think they batted really well in the powerplay. We also know that if we can't find the wickets of Hetmyer and Shai Hope, it's going to be difficult to contain them in Guyana. It's always a tough place to play, but we always tell the guys it's good for us to come out here and get a run-out. [What makes it so difficult to play here?] When you look at this Guyana team, they are designed for these conditions. They pick their squad based specifically on their home environment. They always have three quality spinners, and Pretorius is someone who consistently takes wickets in the powerplay. His lines are very good in Guyana, and for the majority of games he plays here, you have to give him credit. They seem like a very well-rounded team.

[Conditions change in the second innings?] It changed a lot. We wanted to win the toss and bowl because we knew the dew would increase and batting would become a little bit easier in the second innings. But having said that, you have to give credit to the Guyana team - they played really well tonight. [Must-win game coming up] We are faced with must-win games now if we want to progress further in the competition. But it's an opportunity for us. We have a few days to sit down, come up with different plans, and see what works for us as a team. I think we're still in a good position - whenever your destiny or your fate is in your own hands, you take that every time. [Satisfied with the team?] Yeah, to be honest, in each and every game we have people standing up, and that's a positive for us as a team. Now it's just about putting it together collectively. Instead of one or two guys chipping in each game, we need three or four guys stepping up, just like Guyana showed tonight. Having said that, the guys are working hard. It's been nine games into a long competition, so we have some time in Barbados to sit down, rest our legs a bit, and come back fresh for our final game."

Player of the Match, Dwaine Pretorius: "[Construction of the powerplay overs] Oh wow, that powerplay can be a bit of a 50/50 for us! But before I get into that, I just wanted to thank God for the opportunity to play tonight and for the performance. Yeah, I try to keep it as simple as possible and make it as difficult as I can for the batters. It went my way again tonight, so I'm really happy for that. But overall, I thought that was a great team performance. [How satisfied are you with this award tonight?] Coming back home for our first home game and putting in a performance like that sets the bar really high from a team perspective. I think the region will be really proud of our performance tonight. Jamaica has been flying high; I think they won their last four games, so I'm really happy with how we played. [Performing here in Providence] I actually don't know! I just try to keep simple game plans, and honestly, the way our team is playing gives me a lot of confidence. I know who's coming after me - I know Shamar is there, KP [Pierre], Imran, and Nabi are there. That allows us to play with a lot of freedom without too much pressure on our shoulders as individuals. And again, the way our batting unit played today was amazing. It was a complete team effort. [Structure of experienced player helps the team] Yeah, it helps a lot. We're really fortunate with our attack. Shamar's been here for four years, I've been here for four years, and Shepherd has been here forever, so we trust each other completely. When you walk back and someone gives you an option, you trust it straight away - there's no second-guessing. It's awesome, and Imran has given me a lot of trust as well. We've been able to keep 80% of our squad together for a very long period, and I'm really chuffed with how we're performing at the moment."

10:41 pm It was an explosive start for the Warriors, driven by Dindyal's flurry of boundaries and sixes before he departed for a crisp 33 off 17 balls. The host side raced to 65 for 1 after the powerplay, with Gurbaz going all guns blazing at the other end. The dashing opener put on a solid batting display, bringing up his fifty off 31 balls before getting caught at cover for 54. From there, Hope and Hetmyer kept the scoreboard ticking with clever strike rotation and timely boundaries. Hetmyer did get a lifeline when Smith put him down at long on. It was smart, calculated cricket all around from the Guyana Amazon Warriors in front of a houseful Providence crowd. The duo sealed the win with an unbeaten 46-run partnership - Hetmyer finishing on 30 off 17, while Hope played the steady anchor role, ending on 39 off 35.
