Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed India Under-19 allrounder RS Ambrish as a replacement for Shivam Mavi, who has been ruled out of IPL 2026 with a groin injury. SRH have signed Ambrish for his base price of INR 30 lakh.
SRH had signed Mavi for his base price of INR 75 lakh at the auction, but the fast bowler hadn't played a game in the season.
Ambrish was part of the India Under-19 side that won the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. He was India's highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 11 scalps. In the final, he picked three wickets including giving India their first breakthrough while defending 412 against England.
Ambrish, who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm medium, was also part of India U-19's tours of England and Australia and the U-19 Asia Cup prior to the World Cup.
SRH have faced a spate of injury issues in their fast-bowling department. Their captain Pat Cummins had missed the first four games of the season as he made his return to fitness. Fast-bowling allrounder Jack Edwards was ruled out before the season started with a foot injury. The English fast-bowling duo of Brydon Carse and David Payne early into their campaign.
SRH have won their last five matches in a row and are currently third on the points table, and are among three teams with 12 points from nine games each.
Their next match is the day game on Sunday, May 3 against Kolkata Knight Riders at home.
