Seamer Ottneil Baartman, who has been named in South Africa's ODI squad for their series against Australia later this month, suffered an injury during the first-round of red-ball matches of the season.
Baartman bowled just five overs for Dolphins in their innings-and-60-runs defeat to Titans and did not bat in Dolphins' second innings. There was no word from the ground as to what injury Baartman had suffered but Cricinfo understands an update on his situation will be issued on Sunday morning.
Baartman is the second injury concern after Kagiso Rabada was ruled out of the ODIs with a hamstring concern. CSA has not provided an estimated time for Rabada's recovery and will take a call on his availability for the three-Test series closer to its start on October 9.
There will also be questions over one other member of the pace pack. Lungi Ngidi bowled 16.3 overs for Titans in the match against Dolphins (eight in the first innings and 8.3 in the second) and while he did leave the field during Dolphins' second innings, he returned but did not bowl for the rest of the match. There is better news for Marco Jansen, who picked up seven wickets for Titans, and bowled 28 overs in the match as he looked to get his loads up.
In the batting department, Ryan Rickelton scored his 19th first-class century, for Lions against Boland, in a game that is ongoing. Test captain Temba Bavuma made 91 in the first innings of that match but only 9 in the second.
In Cape Town, David Bedingham, batting at No. 3, scored 5 while Kyle Verreynne made 45 for Western Province Cobras against Warriors while Tristan Stubbs, also at one-drop but for the Warriors, scored 46 and 11. Dane Paterson has three wickets in the match so far.
