Nigeria scraped through to the quarter-finals of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in second place in Group C, and will now face West African rivals Cameroon on Sunday in Casablanca.
The Super Falcons started their title defence with a 3-2 loss to Malawi in a match which saw sisters Temwa Chawinga and Tabitha Chawinga shine.
Justin Madugu's side bounced back with a 1-0 win over Zambia and a late flurry of goals saw them beat Egypt 6-2 and scrape through.
Given that Nigeria finished level on six points with Malawi and Zambia, results against Egypt fell away for the final consideration in terms of determining the Group C rankings.
The teams remaining each had a goal difference of 0 in their three-team mini-league. Nigeria scored more goals (three) in fixtures between themselves, Malawi and Zambia than the Copper Queens did (two).
Malawi finished top by virtue of having scored three times against Nigeria and once against Zambia for a total of four.
Cameroon finished top of Group D, featuring Ghana, Mali and Cape Verde.
The winner of this quarter-final will automatically qualify for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, while the loser will have to attempt to qualify through first the African playoffs between losing quarter-finalists and then the Inter-Confederation playoffs.
