Chasity Patterson, the No. 4 junior prospect in the nation, gave a verbal commitment to Texas on Monday night.
Ranked as the No. 1 point guard in the 2017 class, the 5-foot-6 Patterson is electric in the backcourt and can score in bunches. The star from North Shore (Houston) had also been considering Oklahoma and UCLA.
"My first offer was from Texas and that was when I was in the seventh grade," Patterson said. "I visited the other two schools as well, but I felt that Texas was the place for me."
Karen Aston's 2016 class, which includes McDonald's All Americans Joyner Holmes and Alecia Sutton, was ranked No. 3 in the nation. Patterson is the first member of the Longhorns' 2017 class.
Texas made it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament last season before falling to Connecticut.
"She's the best player in North Shore history," coach Allison Campbell said of Patterson in February. "I've known Chasity since she came to my camp as a second-grader. And from the second I met her, I couldn't wait for her to be in high school so she could play for me."
