Pitchers to stream on Saturday
Over his last six starts, Peter Lambert posted a 2.10 ERA and 1.02 WHIP but has only two wins. He's recorded four straight no-decisions despite the Houston Astros ranking eighth in runs per game over this span. The tough-luck righty's next chance for a victory is in Petco Park against the San Diego Padres. It will be a challenge, as the Padres' offense has come alive over the second half, but Lambert's streak is fueled by 40 strikeouts with only 10 walks over his last 34 1/3 innings.
As a starter, Griffin Jax boasts a 3.16 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 82 2/3 innings. He hasn't been in the rotation long enough, but his 20.0% K-BB% would be tied for 14th if he was a qualified starter. The Tampa Bay Rays are in the Pacific Northwest for a weekend set against the Seattle Mariners. Jax will face a lineup with a below-average wOBA and an above-average strikeout rate in T-Mobile Park -- one of the only venues favoring pitchers as much as Tropicana Field, Jax's home yard.
Bubba Chandler is still experiencing growing pains, but we're at the time of the season it could be necessary to take chances on upside. He hasn't demonstrated elite dominance at the major league level but in the minors, the 23-year-old right-hander has recorded a strikeout rate over 30.0%. Control is an issue, but Chandler has above-average stuff. Next up is a home affair with the New York Mets, who have registered the lowest wOBA in the league facing righties and are without Juan Soto and Mark Vientos.
Hitters to stream on Saturday
The Boston Red Sox have become frequent visitors to this space. Since June 25, they are 31-5 and lead the league with a 2.84 ERA over that span. However, they have also scored the third-most runs per game in this stretch and are spending the weekend in Fenway Park against the suspect Athletics pitching staff. On Saturday, they draw lefty Gage Jump and his 4.59 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. The Red Sox right-handed contingent is in for a productive evening in the humid Northeast with Jahmai Jones, Caleb Durbin, Willson Contreras, Andruw Monasterio and Connor Wong the primary targets.
