If the season ended today, Joel Embiid would very likely be named the MVP of the NBA.
At 27 years old, he's peaking with the best season of his career. He's leading the NBA in scoring at a career-high 29.5 PPG, and is also posting personal bests of 4.5 APG, 1.3 APG, 19.5 FGA (at 49.2 FG%) and 11.1 FTA (at 81.4 FT%).
He has carried the 76ers to the best record in the Atlantic Division even without Ben Simmons, the other All-Star on the team, and Embiid's team-high on-off +/- of +10.6 points per 100 possessions attests to this fact. Embiid's outstanding box score stats also have him at the top of the fantasy basketball world, where he currently ranks sixth in the ESPN Player Rater for roto leagues and fourth in fantasy PPG in points leagues.
But with the NBA landscape changing trade of a week ago, Embiid will no longer be the only MVP-caliber player in a 76ers uniform moving forward. How will James Harden affect the star big man's amazing season?
