Villa come into this year's competition as Europa League champions after they beat SC Freiburg 3-0 in the final in May.
However, it has been a summer of significant departures at Villa Park with Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa and Youri Tielemans all leaving the club.
Speaking on their Champions League draw, Johan Lange, Aston Villa sporting director said: "Amazing season. Unai Emery has done an amazing job, won the Europa League.
"He has changed a lot of players this season. It seems like he bought exciting, young players. Added some experience as well.
"So it was an exciting draw as well for the fans. The phone is already going mad regarding tickets, you know Barcelona, Paris St Germain. Very interesting, very exciting and I think the club is really excited to be in this competition."
