Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza has become the first player with an OVR of 99 in EA Sports College Football 26.
The rising star saw his OVR rise by one point to put him as the highest rated player in the game following the Hoosiers' 27-21 victory over Miami in the College Football Playoff National Championship in Miami. The win was the Hoosiers' first national championship in the school's history.
The ratings update brings improvements to the quarterback's strength, agility, change of direction and awareness, each of which have increased by one point. It's a stark difference from Mendoza's starting OVR of 87 upon CFB 26's launch in July last year.
It pushes Mendoza ahead of two other 98-rated players, including Miami defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the former of which would likely have joined the 99 Club if the Hurricanes had won instead of the Hoosiers.
Several other Hoosiers players have seen an increase to their OVR in the most recent batch of ratings updates, too, including cornerback D'Angelo Ponds, whose OVR has increased to 95. Center Pat Coogan also saw a single-point increase, rising to 93 OVR, while offensive tackle Carter Smith dropped one point, from 97 down to 96 OVR.
