In an effort to fix the losing ways of Team USA at the Ryder Cup, the 11-man task force charged with finding a solution met Tuesday for the first time.
"We discussed a wide array of issues including the selection process for captains and vice captains and more," PGA of America President Derek Sprague said in a statement. "Today was the beginning of a process that is designed to create the conditions for long term Ryder Cup success. We have more work to do and look forward to gathering again to complete the work of the task force."
They congregated at PGA of America headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for more than four hours.
The members of the task force include PGA Tour players Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker as well as past Ryder Cup captains Davis Love III, Tom Lehman and Raymond Floyd.
PGA of America officials Paul Levy (vice president) as well as PGA CEO Pete Bevacqua (co-chair) and Sprague (co-chair) also are part of the committee.
Woods, Fowler, and Stricker competed in Tiger's Hero World Challenge near Orlando this past weekend.
The Americans lost to Team Europe, 16.5-11.5, in late September at Gleneagles, Scotland in the most recent edition of the biennial matches and have come up short in eight of the past 10 Ryder Cups.
The 2016 Ryder Cup will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.
