PGA Tour veteran Boo Weekley isn't usually one to mince words. On Wednesday, he voiced his thoughts on the tour's wraparound schedule, beginning and ending in the fall, loud and clear.
"Honestly, this wraparound season sucks," he said in advance of the Sanderson Farms Championship, one of seven official tournaments contested in the fall, just weeks after the previous season finished up. "It does, seriously."
From there, Weekley didn't back off.
"It's stupid," he said. "I still ain't figured out this FedEx -- what does this FedEx Cup stuff do? It ain't doing nothing, but it is what it is. It's supposed to be the players' tour. It's [commissioner] Tim Finchem and them's tour is what it is.
"It's aggravating having to play this much, but yet it's important to come out and try to get a good start. I mean, it's good for the rookies, I think. It gives them something they can [use to] get their feet wet before they actually get into the bigger tournaments. I think that's a good thing."
While other players have voiced displeasure about the seemingly never-ending schedule based on how it affects performance, Weekley offered up a different rationale.
"Ain't no time for hunting and fishing, man. You know, you've got to come in here and bring my rods over here to go fishing, but you can't go fishing because you get out there and next thing you know somebody's aggravating you, and you can't actually enjoy going fishing."
Weekley, who is already making his third start of the 2015-16 season, was scheduled to tee off at 12:36 p.m. ET in the opening round on Thursday.
