Jamie Donaldson was among those who qualified for the U.S. Open via the most recent Official World Ranking due to his finish at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on Sunday.
The Welshman tied for 10th in Ireland and moved to 60th in the world, grabbing the last spot available via the rankings. The United States Golf Association will also award spots to those not previously qualified if they are in the top 60 on June 13, the Monday of the U.S. Open at Oakmont.
The USGA will also conduct sectional qualifiers at several sites on June 6.
South Africa's Jaco Van Zyl, who was 60th last week, moved up to 59th. Among others who will get U.S. Open invites via this category are England's Chris Wood and India's Anirban Lahiri.
The Open also awards spots via the top 50 in the world as of Monday, and Sweden's David Lingmerth locked down the 50th spot to get an invite to Royal Troon in July. Americans Billy Horschel and Ryan Moore were also among those who qualified via this category, as did Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee.
The tournament will also award spots to those not otherwise qualified at various tournaments leading up to The Open, including three PGA Tour events: the FedEx St. Jude Classic, the Quicken Loans National and the Greenbrier.
