India's Jeev Milkha Singh scored 2-under 69 after 18 holes to start his campaign in the European Tour British Masters event on Thursday. This placed Jeev in tied-21th place, with Finland's Mikko Ilonen, Scotland's Marc Warren, England's Tommy Fleetwood and South Africa's Richard Stern leading with 5-under 66 after completing their first rounds in Hertfordshire, England.
Jeev began his campaign from the back nine and registered his first bogey on the 17th hole after shooting par scores on the seven holes before that. His form improved on the front nine as he shot birdies on the second, fourth and fifth holes.
Jeev had finished tied-54th at this European Tour event last year. He had last participated in the KLM Open where he had failed to make the cut.
His best result on the European Tour this year has been a tied-7th place finish at the Thailand Classic in March. He has failed to make the cut in 10 of the 16 tournaments that he has participated in on the European Tour in 2016.
