Bucknell 76, Haverford 44

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Jason Vegotsky scored 11 of his 14 points

in the second half as Bucknell defeated Haverford 76-44 on Monday

in a non-league contest.

The Bison (7-1) posted a 32-10 scoring advantage after the break

and used their size and athleticism to keep the Fords (3-5) from

mounting a serious threat. They led 31-21 at the half despite

turning the ball over 14 times.

Chris McNaughton sparked an early 9-0 run with four points in

the paint while Kevin Bettencourt added a 3-pointer. Haverford was

unable to match the taller Bison players on the boards and soon

found itself trailing 20-10.

But 3-pointers by David Nowacki and Aaron Heath kept the

visitors within striking distance at 29-19.

The Bison went on a 22-6 run in the second half as McNaughton

tallied 5 points and Vegotsky knocked down his second 3-pointer to

push the advantage to 53-29.

Bucknell shot 46 percent for the game and enjoyed a 51-27 edge

on the boards. McNaughton posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Vegotsky also finished with 14 points, while Donald Brown had 10

points and 10 rebounds.

Jason Polykoff and Mike Frantangelo each scored 8 points in a

losing effort.
