Auburn 64, Winthrop 62

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Korvotney Barber tipped in a basket with 2

seconds left, raising Auburn to a 64-62 victory over Winthrop on

Thursday night.

The teams, both 6-3, swapped leads seven times and Winthrop

trailed again with 2:17 remaining before Torrell Martin's jumper

tied the game, 60-60.

Auburn's Quantez Robertson answered with a layup, that was

matched by James Shuler tying the game once more at 62-62 before

Barber's tip-in sealed the win.

Auburn trailed 31-26 at halftime after Winthrop scored five

unanswered points. The Tigers opened the second half on an 8-0 run,

but Winthrop gained momentum -- leading by as many as 13 points

early in the second half.

Martin had a double-double with 19 points and a game-high 10

rebounds for Winthrop. Chris Gaynor added 17 points and Shuler had

14.

Rasheem Barrett led Auburn with 19 points and Ronnie LeMelle

added 12.

Both teams hit seven 3-pointers. Auburn had 45.3 percent

shooting, while Winthrop hit 42 percent of its shots.

Winthrop outrebounded the Tigers 34-26, while Auburn forced 17

turnovers, scoring 15 points off them.
