HONOLULU -- Lazabian Jackson had 19 points and 10 rebounds, leading Arkansas-Pine Bluff to its first victory of the season, 62-52 over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Monday night in the Rainbow Classic.
The Golden Lions (1-2) also got 15 points from Terrell Kennedy, 13 from Davon Haynes, and eight points and seven assists from Tevin Hammond.
Kyree Jones led Maryland-Eastern Shore (0-3) with 21 points. Ronald Spencer had 14 rebounds.
Pine Bluff led 18-17 with 5:15 left in the first half when Hammond and Kennedy hit 3-pointers to spark an 8-0 run.
Dominique Cowell hit a jumper to stop the run and pull the Hawks within 26-19 at halftime, but a 3-pointer by Jackson and a jumper by Haynes to start the second half put the Golden Lions up by 12. They extended the lead to as many as 18 when Kennedy scored inside with 11:14 remaining.
