BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Harold Washington scored 22 points and Billy Baron added 21 to lead Canisius over Boston University 83-75 Monday night.
Washington, who scored 15 of his points in the first half, shot 8 of 12 from the field while Baron was 7 of 14.
After Washington's jumper put Canisius (1-0) ahead 14-6 with 13:39 left to play in the first half, Boston used a 13-9 run to cut the deficit to 23-19. However, Washington scored seven straight to put the Griffins up 31-19.
Boston attempted to rally in the second half -- scoring as many points over the first seven minutes (28) as they did the entire first half. But after cutting the deficit to 73-70 with 2:54 left to play, the Terriers made just two of their last five shots while the Griffins sank seven free throws in the final minute.
D.J. Irving led Boston (0-2) with 20 points.
