EASTON, Pa. -- Dan Trist netted 16 points as Lafayette overcame a sizeable rebounding deficit to hand Delaware its fourth straight loss 63-60 Wednesday night in a nonconference game.
The Leopards (2-6) lost the rebound battle 41-26, but outshot the Blue Hens (2-5) 46.2 percent (24 of 52) to 36.2 percent (21 of 58) and forced 18 turnovers.
Jamelle Hagins pulled down a career-high 23 rebounds for Delaware, giving him 819 for his career and making him the fifth player in program history with 800 boards. Hagins also had 18 points for his fourth double-double this year.
Lafayette led by 16 at halftime and by 20, 41-21, with 19:13 left when Delaware began chipping away. The Blue Hens cut the lead to 61-58 with 22 seconds left on Terrell Rogers' jumper, only to have two Joey Ptasinski free throws put the Leopards back up by five with 15 seconds left.
