LOS ANGELES -- Ashley Hamilton scored 19 points to lead five Loyola Marymount players in double figures as the Lions beat Portland State 66-56 on Saturday night.
Anthony Ireland had 12 points and Godwin Okonji, Chase Flint and C.J. Blackwell added 10 each for the Lions (4-4). Hamilton had nine rebounds.
Marcus Hall scored 16 points and made four 3-pointers for the Vikings (1-4).
Loyola Marymount led 30-29 at intermission, and there were 16 lead changes and six ties before the Lions went on a 9-0 run over a 6:37 stretch in the second half to take control. Blackwell had two jumpers during the run, which gave Loyola Marymount a 51-43 lead with 6:15 remaining, and Portland State got no closer than five the rest of the way.
The Lions used a full-court press that helped force Portland State into 11 turnovers in the second half.
