Delaware State Hornets @ Delaware Blue Hens
Delaware St. 73, Delaware 67
NEWARK, Del. -- Tahj Tate scored 24 points and Amere May hit a late, tying 3-pointer in regulation as Delaware State posted a 73-67 overtime victory over Delaware Saturday.
Tate, who grabbed 10 rebounds, and Tyshawn Bell (15 points) led the Hornets (5-5) throughout much of the game. But May's trey -- his only 3-point attempt -- with 4.8 seconds left in regulation tied it at 60-all and forced overtime.
Then Tate and Bell assumed control. Bell began the OT scoring with a 3-pointer, later making two free throws. Bell's shooting was superb. He was 4 for 5 from the floor -- including all three of his 3-point attempts -- and made 4 for 4 at the foul line.
For Delaware (3-7), Devon Saddler scored 16 points, and Jamelle Hagins had a 15-15 double-double. The Blue Hens led 60-57 in regulation after Terrell Rogers' two free throws, but then May's 3-pointer forced overtime.
