St. Peter's 80, LIU Brooklyn 67
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Desi Washington scored 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field to lead St. Peter's to an 80-67 victory over LIU Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
The Blackbirds played without leading scorer Julian Boyd, who tore his ACL in the victory against Rice on Dec. 12. He will miss the rest of the season. Boyd, who averaged 18.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, was the reigning Northeast Conference player of the year.
Washington, who shot 4-of-7 on 3-pointers, scored 17 points in the second half. Yvon Raymond had 14 points and Blaise Ffrench 12 for the Peacocks (5-5). St. Peter's led 39-35 at the break.
The Peacocks shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29 of 53) to score their most points this season.
Jamal Olasewere had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Blackbirds (5-5), Brandon Thompson scored 13, C.J. Garner 12 and Jason Brickman 10.
