RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- Anthony Mayo was one of three Stony Brook players with eight points to help the Seawolves edge Manhattan 50-44 Tuesday in nonconference play.
Jameel Warney and Scott King also had eight points while Dave Coley chipped in seven for the Seawolves, who are off to the best 13-game start in their Division I history.
Stony Brook (9-4) shot a porous 24 percent (6 of 25) from the field in the first half but took a 21-19 advantage into halftime as Manhattan made just 5 of 17 shots during the frame.
Manhattan (3-9) opened the second half on a 16-8 run to take a 35-29 lead but Stony Brook, which got scoring contributions from all but two players, outscored the Jaspers 21-9 over the final 10 minutes.
Rhamel Brown led Manhattan with 15 points and Mohamed Koita had 11 but the Jaspers got just nine points off the bench.
