Colorado St. 62, UTEP 58
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Greg Smith scored 18 points to lead Colorado State to its sixth straight victory, beating UTEP 62-58 on Wednesday night.
Colton Iverson added 17 points as the Rams (12-2) added to the nation's fourth-longest home winning streak -- 21 in a row.
Wes Eikmeier scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half. Pierce Hornung had five points and 10 rebounds.
Julian Washburn led UTEP (6-6) with 22 points. McKenzie Moore had 15 points off the bench and Jacques Streeter 12 for the Miners, who won four of their previous five games.
Colorado State took a 56-55 lead on a hook shot by Iverson with 2:24 left. Washburn and Konner Tucker missed 3-pointers before Eikmeier buried a baseline jumper, and the Rams broke the press to set up Iverson's dunk to make it 60-55 with 14 seconds left.
Washburn's 3-pointer cut it to 60-58, but Smith finished UTEP with two free throws in the last six seconds.
