BOONE, N.C. -- Nathan Healy and Michael Obacha both posted double-doubles and Chris Burgess hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in overtime to help Appalachian State hold off Georgia Southern 64-62 Wednesday night in Southern Conference play.
Healy finished with 13 rebounds and scored four of his 17 points in overtime. Obacha posted 11 points and 10 boards, Burgess finished with 12 points and Tab Hamilton 10 as the Mountaineers (8-10, 4-3) had their fifth straight game with at least four players in double figures.
Appalachian State led by as many as 17 points in the second half but missed nine straight shots and committed five turnovers in the final 8:44 as Georgia Southern rallied to send the game into OT.
The teams exchanged baskets in overtime until Burgess' 3-pointer.
C.J. Reed scored 16 points to lead Georgia Southern (8-12, 2-5), which missed two jumpers on its final possession in overtime.
