HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Chris Dixon scored 22 points to lead UNC Wilmington to a 57-51 victory over Hofstra Saturday in a Colonial Athletic Association game.
The Seahawks (8-11, 3-4), who trailed 22-17 at halftime, outscored Hofstra (15-5, 2-5) 40-29 in the second half. With the game tied at 37-37, UNC Wilmington outscored Hofstra 20-14 down the stretch. Dixon scored 7 of the last 9 points.
Dixon got double-figure scoring help from Tanner Milson (17 points) and Keith Rendleman (11). Fifteen of Milson's points came on his 5-for-7 3-point shooting.
That helped give the Seahawks a decisive advantage from long range. They made 11 of 23 3-point attempts while Hofstra was just 3 for 18. Taran Buie, who led Hofstra with 13 points, tied a school record with seven 3-pointers in the Pride's previous game. But he was just 2 for 8 on treys, while Stevie Mejia (11 points) was 1 for 6.
